STORIES FROM THE FRONTLINES: The Refugee crisis continues and includes pets
On March 22, 2022 at 12:30am, 4 vans arrived at our partner church in Moldova with 61 Ukrainian refugees. They now have 71 refugees staying at the church. They are housing them, feeding them, counseling them, caring for their dogs, providing for their needs the best we can, and helping them get to their next destination. The church currently has only 2 showers and they are quickly working to add a third shower because the number of refugees is growing by the day. As you can imagine, it takes a lot of money to shelter, feed, and keep that many people warm.
As refugees check into our facility we have come across a new concern. Many refugees are bringing their pets with them. We now have a few dogs that the refugees refuse to part with. We will now need to figure out where to put the dogs, feed them, clean up after them., etc. Can you imagine leaving your pet behind in a war zone? Definitely not because they are part of your family. The refugees cannot leave them behind either so they travel with their pets. Please pray for our partner churches as they navigate these uncharted waters and that God will provide for all the needs of their guests.
STORIES FROM THE FRONTLINES:
EVERY REFUGEE CHILD RECEIVED AN OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD SHOEBOX
Every Ukrainian Refugee child that has stayed at our partner church in Moldova during the past two weeks has been given an Operation Christmas Child shoebox of toys and other supplies. God had a plan for these boxes to arrive from Holland to Moldova after the holidays because now they are able to give them to the precious refugee children. Pastor Alex said that giving the children the shoeboxes helps calm the stress and anxiety of the parents and the kids. It shows them love and gives the kids and parents something to smile about. The children receive new toys and can play with the other refugee children staying there too. It helps create a happier environment and lets them forget the trauma of their circumstances for a little while. Once parents and their children are in a safe, warm shelter, and have a good meal, and the children are settled with their shoeboxes, our church partners can share Jesus' love with them.
